The landscape will change quickly: at first the winding rise through the chestnut forest, then all of a sudden the steep Mediterranean cliffs of the Amalfi Coast.
During the morning you can decide to go directly to Ravello or to stop in Amalfi first.
You are going to be the one who will decide how to manage the time and the itinerary throughout the day, with the support of your experienced driver-guide.
The Amalfi Coast is named after the Town of Amalfi – the most glorious place on the Coast. Amalfi has been attracting people for centuries – from the pilgrim seeking the relics of Saint Andrew to the modern traveler admiring the richness of its past and its unique beauty. If you like you can visit the Cathedral of Saint Andrew or you can try to get away from the crowds by exploring the maze of narrow walkways: welcome back to the Middle Ages! Not to miss is a taste of the local lemon pastry called “Delizia al Limone”.
Straight 1000ft above Amalfi sits Ravello – the most scenic and elegant resort town on the Amalfi Coast. Our suggestion for an unforgettable viewpoint is the visit to Villa Cimbrone. Take a chance to browse the local workshops or to taste some handcrafted “Limoncello”!
Lunchtime will offer different choices. You can simply decide to indulge yourself sitting at one of the cafés in Ravello Town Square, as well as choosing one of the scenic restaurants on the cliffs. Or also you can stop later at the seaside for the unexplored taverns in Cetara.
Our special choice is a small local winery in Tramonti, a rural settlement on the way down to the sea from Ravello. This is the only option that requires a reservation before the tour starts. Apart from tasting local wines and cheese, you are going to have the chance to visit a traditional vineyard with plants that are over a century old!
In the afternoon you can stop in Cetara or Vietri.
Cetara is the only real fishing village on the Amalfi Coast. It keeps the ancient tradition of producing a special fish sauce called “Colatura di Alici”. Please ask your driver-guide to show you one of the last existing producers of such an old and unique food product. Enjoy some time at leisure around this small authentic seaside town which is still untouched by the mainstream tourism of the region.
The itinerary from Cetara to Vietri will continue on the spectacular Amalfi Drive. Dramatic cliffs, isolated beaches, olive trees, and lemons growing on amazing terraces. Great picture opportunities all along the ride.
The last village before making your way back will be Vietri. It is the capital of the famous hand-made ceramics of Vietri, an ultra-centenary tradition that is still extremely lively. Time permitting you could take a chance to browse the several stores offering the local crafts.
