Concerti al Tramonto: Art, Music and Theatre Festival on Capri Island
Imagine yourself sitting on a beautiful terrace in Capri island, drinking a glass of wine and listening to your favourite songs while the sun sets behind your back. It definitely sounds like a beautiful, gentle dream and the good news for you is that it isn’t just a dream but reality!
“Concerti al tramonto” is indeed the name of a musical festival that will take place in the breath-taking location of Villa San Michele, which was once the residence of Axel Munthe, the famous Swedish doctor and writer, who literally fell in love with Capri island for its “culture, beauty and quiet” as he always loved to say. It could not be otherwise, since the villa is really kind of a gem: its Roman-inspired architecture emphasizes the natural magnificence of the landscape, inspiring a sincere romantic spirit and love for art. A feeling that is strengthen by the pure beauty of the park surrounding the villa, which includes statues overgrown with ivy and the mossy marble statues standing around the garden. It is in this very location that the kermesse will take place.
The festival has been inaugurated Friday 15th June by the String Quartet of the Real Teatro San Carlo of Naples and will continue Friday 22th June with the performance “Lise & Gertrud: two voices and a cello”, a unique concert where participants will have the chance to listen to popular songs and hits in a way they have never did before.
“Concerti al tramonto” will also include some performances: Saturday 27th July the acting company of the Russian director Alexander Nordstorm will perform some chapters from the Optic Trilogy by Alfian Bin Sa’at, while on 11th August will take place Il re è nudo, a play written by Giovanni De Luise and performed by Francesco Palumbo. Moreover from 22nd to 25th August the festival will be enriched with a selection of movies from the best works of the famous Italian director, Paolo Sorrentino.
