“Drink and Run” the famous sporty aperitif of Florence

Among the many events, fairs and festivals every summer Florence offers to its visitors, there is a very unusual one called Drink and Run where the participants will be asked to literally…drink and run!

A funny 8 Km carefree race among the most suggestive paths of Florence at sunset enhanced with rivers of iced beer to restore the strength: these are the three magic ingredients of this very amusing event that will take place on Tuesday 3 July in the Tuscan city. The meeting point will be at 7 pm at Lungarno del Tempio and the race will pass through places known all over the world for their unique beauty such as Piazzale Michelangelo ai Lungarni, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. At every stop the participants will find different beer stands to quench their thirst. “Run decently and drink responsibly” is the motto of this unique race!

At the end of the competition the event will continue with relax, music and above all food. It will be possible indeed to taste the real Tuscan street food thanks to La Toraia (Chianina hamburger and craft beer), Pescepane (fried fish and seafood), Phil (smoked meat) and Panino Tondo (sandwiches and toasted bread for vegans too).

“No competition, just fun and companionship”, says Francesco Giovannetti from ASD Italian Sport Lab, the promoter of Drink and Run race. “We want to encourage as many people as possible to join the fray and run without any competition at all, for the sole desire to be together doing sports and enjoying the breath-taking landscapes at sunset that our city can offer us. And to deal with 8 km what better motivation of cool beer?

If you are in Florence do not miss this funny sporty aperitif!
